Report: BMW 1-Series sales halted pending recall for fire risk

Jun 12th, 2010 • Category: BMW 1 Series

According to dealer documents obtained by Consumer Reports, BMW has instructed dealers to stop delivery of 1 Series models built between January and May of 2010 due to a fire risk.

The documents cites insufficient clearance between the B-pillar and the seat belt tensioners, which, in the event of a crash, could result in friction, leading to overheating and a potential fire.
