Beginning with its initiation in 2004, BMW has sold 470,000 1-series models all across the globe, and now given the upcoming 1-series coupe, BMW expects those statistics to rise, especially when U.S. sales start this fall.

According to a story by Thomson Financial, the BMW 1-Series coupe should make up for more than 20,000 sales a year and with the addition of the convertible version expected to launch in the spring of 2008, there is no place to go but up. The main question to be addressed early next year is going to buy the new “compact” Bimmer, and whether or not this new coupe will take away more buyers into the BMW following or if it will just take over sales of the Bavarian’s hot-selling 3-series.
